Atlantic League

Tue, 30 December 2008

Discussion of an Atlantic League is back in the news again.

Scotland’s Celtic and Rangers are clearly the two clubs with the greatest interest in the formation of an Atlantic League.

An Atlantic League would make more sense as part of a broader re-organization of European club football.

Market forces will drive changes in European football.

However, European football administrators remain behind the curve, looking to take football back to a past era and ignoring commercial realities, rather than taking the lead in bringing about pragmatic and progressive change.

Sad, but true.
