Mike Newell should be first choice, but as stated before, whistle blowers are often alienated by the rest of the industry.
Of course, his comments about Amy Rayner will not help.
Paul Ince should be next in line for what he achieved at both Macclesfield Town and Milton Keynes Dons.
I have no idea why Leicester City would think that Paul Ince would leave Milton Keynes Dons for another League One club, but Blackburn should get in there.
Steve McClaren would be a poor choice. He may have been a decent assistant to Alex Ferguson, but he was mediocre as Middlesbrough manager and even worse as England manager. Ok, he took Middlesbrough to a UEFA Cup Final, but cup runs are often more about luck than managerial ability, and they lost 0-4 to Sevilla in the final. Perhaps Ince might consider him as his number 2, should he be appointed.
Sam Allardyce would be a better choice than Steve McClaren. He took Bolton as far as he could, but was never the right man for Newcastle Utd. He will do better with another north-west club.
